Alabama Federal Judge L. Scott Coogler (Ret.) Joins FedArb
April 29, 2025 – FedArb is pleased to announce that Hon. L. Scott Coogler (Ret.) has joined its panel. Based in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Judge Coogler has a national practice and is available to serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master, and as a mock panelist. He specializes in Complex Litigation and has expertise in a variety of practice areas including Fraud, Products Liability and Tort cases, Environmental, Employment, Contract, Libel, False Claims Act/Qui Tam Actions. He already has extensive experience mediating cases for both federal and state courts.
Prior to joining FedArb, Judge Coogler served as a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama for more than 20 years, including four years as Chief Judge. He also served on the Judicial Conference Executive Committee for five years. Before that, he was elected Circuit Court Judge for Alabama’s Sixth Judicial Circuit in 1998 and served as Chief Judge of that court from January 2001 until his appointment to the federal bench in 2003.

Judge Coogler earned his B.A. and J.D. from University of Alabama. He also serves as Distinguished Professor at the University of Alabama School of Law where he has taught for more than 15 years.
