David Sorkin Joins FedArb
June 2, 2025 – FedArb is pleased to announce David J. Sorkin has joined its panel. Based in New York, Mr. Sorkin is available to serve as a mediator and to provide guidance on mock arguments and litigation strategy. His expertise includes Mergers and Acquisitions, Business/Commercial, Private Equity, Securities and Financial Services, Accounting and Finance, Real Estate, Insurance and Antitrust.
From 2007 through 2023, Mr. Sorkin served as general counsel and then chief legal officer of KKR & Co. Inc., a global investment firm with asset management, investment, capital markets and insurance businesses. He oversaw legal, compliance, enterprise risk, tax and internal audit operations worldwide.
Before joining KKR, Mr. Sorkin was a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP where he served as outside counsel to private equity firms and their portfolio companies, as well as to public and privately-held companies. During his tenure at Simpson Thacher, he was involved as outside counsel in in some of the most significant corporate transactions of the era, including deals that rank among the largest leveraged buyouts and strategic mergers of all time.
Mr. Sorkin serves as the Barry and Teri Volpert Visiting Professor of Practice in Private Equity at the Harvard Law School and also as the Co-Director of the Harvard Transactional Law Workshop.

Mr. Sorkin earned his B.A. from Williams College and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
