Former EDTX Chief Judge Leonard Davis Joins FedArb
June 12, 2025 – FedArb is pleased to announce that the Hon. Leonard Davis, the former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, has joined its panel. Based out of Texas and Colorado, Judge Davis specializes in Complex Litigation and Intellectual Property, including resolving patent, copyright, trademark, oil and gas, complex matters. He is available to serve as an arbitrator, mediator, mock trial strategy advisor and case evaluator.
During his tenure on the federal bench, Judge Davis oversaw one of the largest IP dockets in the nation. He handled more than 1,700 patent cases, including some of the largest and most complex IP disputes in the country. He was highly respected by attorneys on both sides of the docket for his intellect and fairness. He was honored by the New York Intellectual Property Law Association with its Outstanding Public Service Award and by the American Board of Trial Advocates with its Jurist of the Year Award.
Judge Davis previously served as Chief Justice of the Twelfth Court of Appeals of Texas. He also served by appointment on both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Davis also served on the Federal Circuit Advisory Council and was the former Co-Chair of the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s Federal Judges Committee. For the last 10 years Judge Davis provided strategic consulting for clients on both sides of the docket including trial and appellate strategies, case evaluations and monitoring, and mock trials and oral arguments.

Judge Davis earned his B.A. from the University of Texas, Arlington, a masters in Management Science from Texas Christian University and J.D. from Baylor University School of Law.
